This past weekend we had the Highland Acting Company (associated with Highland Christian Church out of Asheville, NC) come out to Charlotte this weekend and perform the musical Godspell for our community. It was a great time. It was one of the first experiences many of those in our community have had with Godspell and then with even considering coming to a theater event (much less at a church). And everyone we have talked to have been more than pleased. Many were shocked because they simply had no idea what to expect.
If you haven’t experienced Godspell, it is a musical that was written in the 70’s and walks through Jesus’ life as told by the book of Matthew, but in a more modern setting. These actors did incredibly well. And it was fun just to know their stories too because they come from all different places in life; some are on staff at Highland Christian Church, some instruct dance, some teach, some work at Target, ha. And together, God really worked through them to do something great.
On a personal note, I love dramas that show Jesus as a real person. I feel like Godspell, in general, and then this cast, did well at showing Jesus as an actual, complex human being with emotions, with humor, with things that unsettle him. I believe, that of any human, Jesus probably had this depth of feeling and breadth of personality that many of us do not. Sometimes we allow our knowledge that Jesus was both God and man to form this awkward hybrid of a being that is a watered down version of both (thus making him neither). Yet we know, and have to constantly be reminded, that he was fully both, no matter how hard the tension is for us, this seems to be the truth of this phenomenon.

Hey all, I thought this would be the best way to share this info with my committed supporters. I appreciate for your step of faith and willingness to help provide for me in this ministry. These are just a few things that I thought might be helpful for you to know in order to be “the Best Committed Supporter EVER” (hence the name).
1. Get commitment cards in so Nathan knows he’ll be able to eat in the coming months. My support raising — while for a full year — logistically, I raise the amount I will need one month at a time. So your monthly commitments help me plan my expenses based on what I have committed for that current month.
2. Plan out to send support close to the 1st of the month. This, again, allows me to have my major expenses covered at the beginning of the month.
3. Check Nathan’s blog every couple weeks to keep track of what he’s doing and what you can specifically be praying for. I want to keep you as informed as possible as I jump into this new church community and begin to do what I feel led to do.
–> Or better yet, you could choose to get my blog updates by e-mail by clicking the orange button in the upper right corner of the blog and following the instructions.
4. Send letters of encouragement … and candy when you feel so led. I would love to stay informed on what’s going on in your life and family; the two-way communication encourages me and keeps us connected even more. And I love candy!
5. Pray for me and my ministry at LifePointe whenever you think of me. Cut my prayer card off the brochure and stick it somewhere you’ll see it (tell me if you don’t have one and I’ll send it to ya!). We cannot do anything of eternal value unless God is involved and leading the way, so please pray that LifePointe would continue to follow His lead and do what he has called our community of believers to do in the city of Charlotte.
6. Do not hesitate to contact me. If you have questions about anything, please e-mail me or get ahold of me in some way. You are supporting me in this ministry and so never feel like it would be bothersome to ask about upcoming events and plans as we continue to grow the worship arts ministry. I am excited about what God has planned in Charlotte, and as my partners and supporters in this, I want you to be able to be excited about it as well. Because I wouldn’t be out here if it weren’t for you!
